'Seeking Europe-Varosha 2024 AD'

Dance Performance/Music/Video Art - Thursday 12 September 2024

The musician Vangelis Gettos (lute, drums, samples, loops) and the dancer Erika Guastamacchia (Italy), under the guidance of the choreographer Giulio De Leo (Italy), unfold a multi-layered spectacle of dance, live music and video art with shots from inside the enclosed Varosio, drawing inspiration and references from the myth of the Rapture of Europe.

The performance 'Seeking Europe-Varosha 2024 AD' is inspired by the timelessness of an occupied and evacuated city and explores archetypal dichotomies such as 'West - East', 'tradition - innovation', 'past - future'

The methodology of its creation was based, among other things, on an on-site anthropological study and workshops with social groups in Cyprus, in February 2024, as well as on filming (video) inside the occupied village Varosi. The video art that frames the performance also emerged from these shootings.

All events will take place with observation of all necessary protection measures for the health and safety of visitors and staff and are accessible to disabled groups.

Events start at 8.30 p.m., with entrance doors opening at 8 p.m.
