"Beloved Days" documentary

Film Screening - Thursday 19 September 2024

A film shot in 1970 in the now Turkish-occupied village of Karmi, Cyprus, serves as the kaleidoscope of the documentary, introducing images of that magical era and the island's promising future as a film destination: a future that was abruptly ended by the Turkish invasion of 1974.

In 1970, the inhabitants of the small village of Karmi in Cyprus had an unprecedented experience: the filming of the movie "Polyalove", with a crew and Hollywood actors such as Raquel Wells, Richard Johnson and others. The documentary, like a kaleidoscope, conveys images of the social reality of the time and the traumatic changes experienced by the islanders after the Turkish invasion. Forty years later, they visit those beloved days with nostalgia.
