Χάρτες της Κύπρου/Maps of Cyprus
Από τον δέκατο έκτο έως τον δέκατο όγδοο αιώνα. Έντεκα πανομοιότυπα από την Χαρτογραφική Συλλογή του Πολιτιστικο/From the Sixteenth to the Eighteenth Century. Eleven Facsimilies from the Cartographic Collection of the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation

In celebration of its twenty-fifth anniversary, the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation published a numbered collectors’ folder (1– 500), entitled Maps of Cyprus. From the 16th to the 18th century. Eleven facsimiles from the cartographic collection of the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation. The maps have been reproduced from the originals of the Foundation’s cartographic collection dating from the 16th to the 18th century. These rare, notable maps of Cyprus were printed and circulated throughout Europe; they contain important information on both mapping itself and the island’s centuries-long tumultuous history. Apart from maps of Cyprus, the folder includes a significant group of maps of the Mediterranean and the Near East, featuring Cyprus. The latter display illustrations of important historical events such as the journey of Aeneas from Troy to Rome linked to that of Odysseus from Troy to Ithaca, the march of Alexander the Great to Asia and the itinerary of the Apostle Paul’s missionary journeys.
