Aπό την Kύπρο στη Bενετία. Kύπριοι στη Γαληνοτάτη Μετά την Τουρκική Κατάκτηση του Νησιού [From Cyprus to Venice. Cypriots at the Serenissima after the Turkish Conquest of the Island]

The publication deals with the history of Cypriot Hellenism in Venice and provides a commentary on the relevant archival material. Many of the sources which were used for research into this subject, dating from the mid sixteenth to the mid seventeenth century approximately, are kept in the archives of the Hellenic Institute for Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Studies in Venice. These are the codex of wills and donations, the registers of baptisms and marriages, and the registers of the contributions of the members of the Fraternity. Apart from the archival documentation in the possession of the Institute, registrations of deaths of Cypriots, entered in the archives of the Church of St Antoninus in Venice, and data from the state archives of Venice have also been taken into account. With the help of these archival sources, Dr Chrysa Maltezou attempts to trace, on the one hand, the resilience and adaptability shown by the Cypriots of Venice in their new living conditions, and on the other hand the vitality they channeled into their new homeland.
