Η Ελληνική Επανάσταση τoυ 1821. Έκθεση Κειμηλίων [ The Greek Revolution of 1821: An Exhibition of the Relics in the Collections of the National Historical Museum of Greece]

The catalogue of the relics of the National Historical Museum complemented the exhibition on the 1821 Greek War of Independence, organised jointly in Nicosia in March 1991 by the Historical and Ethnological Society of Greece and the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation. The relics collection dates from 1882 and was established mainly from donations by the descendants of protagonists of the 1821 Revolution. It includes engravings, historical documents, weapons, jewellery, seals, banners, figureheads, medals, works of art and local costumes. The Foundation’s seventh annual lecture, “The Throes and Sorrows of a Revolution. 1821 in Cyprus”, was delivered by Professor Vassilis Sphyroeras to coincide with the exhibition.
