The “Literary Heliotrope” is an anthology of children’s and young adult literature. The anthology includes texts from 38 books by 28 authors, all of whom have received awards at the annual Competitions of the Cypriot Association of Children’s and Young Adult Books held between 1977 and 1999 and sponsored by the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation. The anthology contains extracts from thirteen novels, ten poetry collections, seven books of short stories and fairy tales, four short story collections, three plays and a novel. Seen from the children’s perspective, the texts are inspired mainly by the Cypriot tragedy of the invasion and occupation, everyday life and contemporary international reality where technology and computers thrive side by side to environmental and other threats.
