The Cultural Foundation has been the sponsor of the Annual Competition of Children’s and Young Adult Literature organised by the Cypriot Association of Children’s and Young Adult Books since 1984. It is an institution which the Bank of Cyprus bequeathed to the Foundation upon its establishment. More than fifty works have thus far received prizes. In 2000, the Foundation’s Board of Directors decided to upgrade the competition by including award-winning books in its publishing program. Launched in the same year, the series entitled “Children’s and Young Adult Literature” succeeded in encouraging young writers to take part, and rekindled interest in the Competition.
