Concert "Songs like swallows"

Trio Rondine is a newly formed band that appeared in 2021 when three friends, accomplished musicians, joined their forces to perform the musical landscape of the Mediterranean. “Rondine” means “swallow”. On the map of migratory birds, there are four points of the horizon, starting from Greece; birds fly to the areas bordering the Mediterranean Sea.

Each station is for a song from another tradition. And as the long journey of the swallows continues, tradition is succeeded by modern songwriting and film music, to lead them back to their warm nests, with a bunch of songs to be tweeted to nestlings.

Their repertoire includes traditional and contemporary songs from Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Corsica, Syria, Lebanon, Croatia, France, Spain, Morocco, Libya, Egypt and well-known themes from the most remarkable movies.

The band will also present their original, yet unreleased music inspired by the musical traditions of the Mediterranean. The songs and the traditions they represent are bound together by the element of storytelling, uniting old stories from folk songs with contemporary ones, with personal experience of the musicians. Their songs are accompanied by a guitar, an accordion and a mandolin. In this concert, Trio Rondine hosts an excellent Cypriot musician, Marinos Kasinos, on bass and soundscapes.

They have presented their work at the Larnaca Municipality Medieval Festival in the summer of 2021, at the 8th Cyprus Jazz & World Music Showcase in November 2021 and at music venues in the capital.
