A late unrecorded edition. Ecklin visited Cyprus from 27th January to 27th April 1553 and on his return tour from 28th September to 17th October 1553. His stay in Cyprus was unusually long compared to the customs of the period's pilgrims. His remarks regarding Cyprus are particularly significant in light of the time period he visited the island, namely during the Venetian occupation and just before the Turkish invasion (Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation Collection).

First and apparently only edition, published in Dublin in 1792. Francis Venables Vernon is not to be confused with the 17th-century traveller Francis Vernon, who was probably a family connection. First edition, published in London in 1795. Campbell set out on his journey in 1781 over land through Europe and then via Venice and Alexandria to the Levant. He was shipwrecked in the Indian Ocean on the coast of Madras and was captured by the soldiers of Hyder Ali. He spent two days in Cyprus. He returned to England in 1786. Volume 3 of Reisebeschreibung nach Arabien…, published in Hamburg in 1837. This volume was published some 60 years after the publication of vols 1 and 2. It has an additional title, Reisen durch Syrien und Palästina nach Cypern. The Reisebeschreibung contains the full account of Carsten Niebuhr’s six years of travel in the East and is fully illustrated. Niebuhr, the traveller-land surveyor, visited Cyprus in July of 1766 in the course of the Danish expedition to Egypt and Arabia. This scarce book describes the cultivation, processing, and application of madder (rubiatinctorum), an herbaceous climbing plant with little yellow flowers whose root is used medicinally and, more importantly, as the primary source of dye (usually crimson). Travels Through Different Cities

The work comprises thirteen letters written, mostly to Drummond’s brother during the years 1744-1750 while traveling and later when he was resident in Cyprus and in Asia Minor on commercial business from 1754 to 1756. Drummond was British Council at Aleppo, and also formed the first Masonic lodge in Smyrna. An important work, with some errors, with plates including a fine map and views of antiquities in Cyprus. The book was digitized by courtesy of the Premier Banking, Bank of Cyprus.

This is one of the few accounts in English of the War of Cyprus, that is, the Turkish conquest of Cyprus, 1570-1571. It is based on Antonio Maria Graziani’s De Bello Cyprio, first published in Rome in 1624. The book was digitized by courtesy of the Corporate Division of Bank of Cyprus.
